Individual Therapy

In our initial session, I’ll take the time to understand you, your unique challenges, symptoms, and overall mental health status. I’ll discuss how therapy can support you and we will come up with goals and a plan.
I use a combination of insight oriented and skills-based approaches to help clients make progress.
My psychodynamic and interpersonal process training inform my ability to help you to delve into the underlying causes of your emotions, behaviors, and patterns in relationships. We will explore past experiences, childhood relationships, and unconscious conflicts that may be influencing your present struggles. This will help you to understand the deeper roots of your challenges instead of focusing on temporary fixes.
I also value skills building as a necessary part of the therapy process- I use elements of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness/Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to provide clients with concrete skills, education, and homework as requested.
